Задал вопрос по каким Правилам будут походить испытание и в частности, как будет подсчет рейтинга на Приз Президента? Ответ Правила 2008 года, рейтинг определять будет комиссия, но не понятно как?

Не знаю какой сейчас ипподром на Jebel Ali, но когда я скакал в 1993 году, это очень не просто показать там результат приезжей лошади! Это вся финишная прямая подъем где-то 15 градусов. Надо отдать должное, жеребец хорошо себя показал.

Chef-de-Race: Monsun

Introduction: The following is another in a series of articles by Mr. Steve Miller on the selection of chefs-de-race with a major influence outside of North America. Mr. Miller is a Thoroughbred owner and correspondent from the UK and an acknowledged pedigree authority. Using racing data from around the world, Mr. Miller undertook a comprehensive examination of Monsun's aptitudinal influence on the modern Thoroughbred. The result of the analysis is that Monsun has been designated a split Classic/Solid chef-de-race.

German contribution to middle-distance stamina

Monsun stands at Gestut Schlenderhan stud in Germany where he has been leading sire four times since 2000 (2000, 2002, 2004 and 2006). Gestut Schlenderhan is Germany’s oldest privately-owned stud, founded by Baron Edouard von Oppenheim in 1869. Monsun is a son of German Triple Crown winner and champion racehorse, Konigsstuhl (himself leading German sire on three occasions), whose tail-male line traces back to Blandford (1919). Monsun thus represents a very rare existing top line.

As a racehorse Monsun was a multiple Group race winner in Germany and won 12 of his 23 starts at 8-12 furlongs. He won the Group1 Europa Preis (Cologne) twice and the Group 1 Aral Pokal (Gelsenkirchen) at 12 furlongs. Monsun also finished runner-up at Longchamp in the Group 2 Prix du Conseil de Paris. He was sixth to Apple Tree in the 1994 Coronation Cup (Epsom) when raced in England at Group 1 level. He was rated 124 by Timeform in his three-year-old season.

Retired to stud in 1996, Monsun is used as an outcross stallion – being free of Northern Dancer, Raise A Native, and Nasrullah blood. Monsun sired the German Derby winner Samum from his first crop and to date has some 65 stakes winners.

His best runners include: Breeders’ Cup Turf, Coronation Cup and German Derby winner Shirocco, Prince of Wales’s Stakes, Prix d’Ispahan and Jacques le Marois winner Manduro, rated Best Horse in the 2007 World Thoroughbred Rankings, German Derby winner Samum, German Derby and 11-16 furlong Group winner Schiaparelli, French Oaks and multiple Group/Grade 1 winner in France and the US Stacelita, German Oaks winner Salve Regina, Italian Derby winner Gentlewave, Italian Oaks winner Guadalupe, German Oaks winner Amarette and other Group/Grade 1 winners: Anna Monda, Getaway, Floriot, Le Miracle and Royal Highness.

Monsun’s other Group/Grade winners include: Grade 2 US winner Noble Stella, Subiaco, Network, Royal Fantasy, Axxos, Arcadio, Simoun, La Boum, Aubonne, Speedmaster, Lauro, Miss Europa, Quelle Amore, Vallera, Kalla, Give Me Five, Sorrent, Imonso, Assiun, Karavel, Persian Storm, Mimetico, etc.

We will examine Monsun’s Group/Grade 1 winners in greater detail. Samum, Shirocco and Schiaparelli were all winners of the German Derby and Salve Regina, sister of Samum and Schiaparelli was runner-up.

Shirocco was champion three-year-old in Germany and Italy, winning the German Derby and the Group 1 Gran Premio del Jockey Club (San Siro) at 12 furlongs. As a four-year-old he won the Breeders’ Cup Turf and finished fourth behind Hurricane Run in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. At five he won the Group 1 Coronation Cup (Epsom), in addition to two Group 2s: the Jockey Club Stakes (Newmarket) and the Prix Foy (Longchamp), all at 12 furlongs. He was rated 129 by Timeform and is a stallion at Darley stud.

Schiaparelli won the German Derby and was a multiple Group winner in Germany. He also won the Group 1 Gran Premio del Jockey Club (San Siro) in 2007 and 2009 and the Group 2 Goodwood Cup at 16 furlongs. He also finished runner-up to Ask in the 2009 Group 1 Prix Royal Oak (Longchamp) at 2 miles.

Samum, brother of Schiaparelli, also won the German Derby and was a multiple Group winner in Germany. Schiaparelli’s and Samum’s full sister Salve Regina won the German Oaks and was runner-up in the German Derby. Amarette was also a German Oaks winner.

Manduro was champion two-year-old in Germany and at five rated Best Horse in the 2007 World Thoroughbred Rankings and Champion older horse in Europe. He won three Group 1s at five: the Prince of Wales’s Stakes (Ascot) at 10 furlongs, the Prix d’Ispahan (Longchamp) at 9 furlongs and the Prix Jacques le Marois (Deauville) at 8 furlongs. He also won the Group 2 Prix Foy (Longchamp) at 12 furlongs. Timeform rated 135 and a stallion at Darley stud.

Stacelita is a multiple Group winner and winner of four Group 1s in France: the Prix de Diane (French Oaks), the Prix Saint-Alary at 10 furlongs, the Prix Vermeille at 12 furlongs and the Prix Jean Romanet at 10 furlongs. She also won two Grade 1s in the US: the Beverly D Stakes (Arlington) and the Flower Bowl Invitational (Belmont), both at 10 furlongs.

Le Miracle won the Group 1 Prix du Cadran (Longchamp) at 2½ miles as well as the Group 3 Prix Gladiateur at 2 miles.

Getaway was a multiple Group winner in Germany, France and England and dual Group 1 winner in Germany of the Deutscheland-Preis (Dusseldorf) and the Grosser Mercedes-Benz Preis Von Baden (Germany’s King George) at 12 furlongs and winner of the Group 2 Jockey Club Stakes (Newmarket) as well as the Group 2 Lucien Barriere Grand Prix de Deauville.

Anna Monda won the Group 1 Premio Vittorio di Capua (San Siro) and two Group 2s in Germany at 8 furlongs. Gentlewave won the Italian Derby and Guadalupe the Italian Oaks. Floriot also won a Group 1 in Italy – the Premio Lydia Tessio for fillies and mares at 10 furlongs as a four-year-old.

Royal Highness won the Group 2 Prix de Malleret (Saint-Cloud) at 12 furlongs as a three-year-old and at five she won the Grade 1 Beverly D Stakes (Arlington) over 10 furlongs.

Of this sample 48% have won at 12 furlongs with 20% winning at 14 furlongs or more and 32% winning at 9-10 furlongs. A similar pattern has emerged for his stakes winners in the rest of Europe and the US. The stallion appears to be exerting prepotent influence for middle-distance stamina, with a concentration of winners at a mile-and-a-half.

The above sample suffers from qualifying chefs-de-race being absent close up in the pedigree. For most of these in the above table the totals in the Dosage profiles are too low to tell us what is really going on. Le Miracle, for example has just two points in his profile and a Dosage index of 3.0, which is appropriate for a sprinter rather than a horse capable of winning Group 1s at extreme distances. In fact the bottom third of this table have the sort of DIs that would be associated with sprinters rather than middle-distance/staying performers.

The addition of Monsun as a Classic/Solid influence changes things dramatically. As shown in the following table, with this designation factored in the profiles become skewed to stamina rather than speed, which is a much better reflection of reality than before. [A pure Solid designation was considered, but would overcompensate toward the stamina end of the scale.] By placing the stallion in the Classic/Solid category we could expect this whole sample to be fully effective at distances of 10-12 furlongs and more, which the evidence supports.

From our initial research into Monsun in 2007 we concluded that the stallion was a promising candidate for chef-de-race status. We included him in the “Intermediate Stamina” category of the Speed influences of non-chef-de-race stallions list. A clear indication has subsequently emerged that he is exerting prepotent influence on his progeny for middle-distance stamina. This influence seems best reflected by a Classic/Solid designation. Monsun fills an important gap in the system and consequently becomes the 218th chef-de-race of the series.
